I've been reading this book by Gary Chapman entitled "Love as a Way of Life". I'm simply reading it because God is love. Therefore, I need to make love a part of my everyday life.
And he states in this book, that love starts out with kindness.
Am I kind in my everyday life?
Sometimes I'm in a rush in the grocery store and fail to say anything to the grocery store clerk.
Sometimes I'm in a rush while driving and get frustrated with slow drivers.
Sometimes my children hurt each other and I don't respond with any type of kindness at all.
So, the answer to this question is no, not all the time.
So, what can I do?
Start being kind in every aspect of my life.
Here is Gary Chapman's list and mine combined to start doing kind things in my life:
Give a store clerk a compliment.
Hold the door open for someone.
Let the person in line behind you at the grocery store check out first.
When going through McDonald's drive thru, pay for the person's order behind you as well as your own.
Tip people well.
Take a friend out to lunch.
Stop at a child's lemonade stand and buy yourself a drink.
Send an e-mail to your friends asking how you can help them out in the upcoming busy week.
If you notice a co-worker excelling at his job, look for an opportunity to tell your boss.
Share an umbrella with someone while it's raining.
The list could go on and on. Please feel free to add to it!
Thank you, God, for giving me the opportunity to show Your love through my acts of kindness!
