I swore I wouldn't write on my blog for a long time. But this weekend was absolutely wonderful and I just had to share it.
We camped at our favorite camping spot, Alley Springs. The weather was so awesome. Not too hot for being in the middle of July! It was fairly cool in the evenings, perfect weather for sleeping outside!
When we pulled in to Alley, we didn't have a campsite reserved because they were completely booked online as of last week. So, my husband was filling up the camper with water, expecting not to have water or electric. But someone pulled behind him, figured out what he was doing and invited him to spend the weekend in a campsite that she had reserved but was not occupying. And to think we wouldn't have gotten that campsite if we had left Thursday evening as we had originally planned but it was raining the moment that we planned on pulling out the driveway so we opted to leave Friday morning. The Lord was blessing us!
It was probably one of the most enjoyable camping trips that I can remember. The boys are getting big enough to ride around on bicycles with me. John John will be riding around with us in a couple of years.
Randy and my dad took the boys floating in the canoe. They took John John on a mini excursion from one side of the bridge to the other side. Isaac took the longest float on a 3 hour float. Matthew's float was for 45 minutes. James opted out of the long float, so he took the mini excursion float also. They all had a good time floating and swimming in the river.
We all got a lot of sunshine on our faces! We came back with somewhat red faces.
What made this camping trip so much more enjoyable? Was it due to the spectacular weather? Was it due to the fact that the boys are getting older? Was it due to the fact that we set up our small tent for the boys to sleep in, so we weren't wading through a bunch of sleeping bodies in the middle of the night? Was it due to our camping site? Was it due to camping in our most absolute favorite campground? In all actuality, I think it was due to the fact that we were chaperoned by the Holy Spirit! And that made all the difference in the world!
Thank you God for such a refreshing and wonderful weekend! I didn't take my camera with me, so I have no pics to share!
