Gotta love....

technology in today's traveling world! I remember when my husband and I started taking vacations over 14 years ago, we had two CB's in the vehicles. Man, times have changed!

Not only do we have walkie talkies to communicate between us, but we have cell phones to talk if the walkie talkies don't work that well. We also have a GPS to use instead of map reading. I was always my husband's map reader in the vehicle, whether I was sitting next to him or in the back of the vehicle shouting out directions to him. Ineveitably, at least once during the trip, I would tell him to take a certain turn about two seconds after he was supposed to turn. And we would have to make the U-turn to get back on track again. This is the first vacation where we have utilized our GPS and I absolutely love it! A couple of glitches here and there, but overall, it works out great! And then to take my laptop and hook up to wi-fi at a motel, well that's icing on the cake!

I'm starting to feel the exhaustion of driving for 14 hours today, but here is our first day in a nutshell.

This picture is what I stared at for about 80% of the time, the back of the trailer that my husband was driving.

We drove through all of Kansas with my husband in front. Except in Kansas City, where my husband had me take the lead because I had our GPS and she navigated us through it like an old pro. And also in Colorado Springs so that I could lead him to the motel.

We ran into some storms when we turned off of I-70 at Limon, CO.

This is my husband's lead vehicle pulled off of the side of the road so that our oldest son could relieve his bladder after drinking a lot of water to alleviate any symptoms of altitude sickness.

We made it fine to our destination in Colorado Springs, in amongst all the raindrops falling on us from Limon to Colorado Springs.

But the funniest quote of the day was when the baby was holding his walkie talkie in his hand. He was pushing buttons on it and pretending like he was talking on it. I talked on another one asking my husband a question. John John pointed to the walkie talkie in his hand, looked at Matthew and asked, "How did Mommy get in there?" Some fun stuff and memories!

Thank you Lord for providing us with a safe trip to Colorado! Expecting some majestic scenery tomorrow!
